Handcarved Spoons
green wood utensils from native hardwoods
Chad Farrar Spoons are carved using native green wood — including apple, birch, and cherry — that has been recently cut from Vermont forests and has not lost its internal moisture through an air-drying or kiln-drying process.
In the sloyd tradition…
Chad Farrar Spoons are inspired by the tradition and lifestyle of the sloyd system of woodworking.
The term "sloyd" comes from the Swedish word slöjd, which means "handicraft" or "skillful work." Sloyd is a method of teaching woodworking through a series of increasingly difficult projects that develop the whole person.
